Our Story
We weren’t looking for a new restaurant. We were on holiday when we saw the site. Initially drawn in by original features such as the windows and spiral staircase, we went to the estate agent hoping to get a look around just so we had something to talk about over lunch.
The location had been sat empty for years after being a clothes shop, and the more time we spent there the more we realised the potential of the Grade 2 listed building to become a premier dining destination.
Our philosophy is that great produce creates great food. Alsop’s will be a 50 cover restaurant with an open kitchen where you’ll be able to see the Chef’s preparing your plates.
Eventually the site will include a private dining area, garden bar, wine cellar and ensuite bedrooms, making Alsop’s a place for all occasions.
Progress so far
Fred Alsop has been chef and owner of The Fish Market in Looe for the last five years, taking over his mum’s breakfast cafe. A former fish merchant, covid caused a career pivot and he embraced his love of food. Starting as seafood platter delivery service, he quickly identified a local desire for quality dishes.
